Why ?

hit counter script

                            Why?

He is thirty-seven and has gone to prison for two years.
Hopefully his wife and three children will wait.
Solomon, in all his wisdom, would have sent him home
to grieve, for Willow, Angel, Thor, and Keavy.
Every day he will feel a failure.
Every time he sits down to eat he will see their young faces
and loathe the spare cash.
And forgiveness will not erase
the stamp - the indelible mark on his soul.

The backdrop to this poem is the case of Nigel Gresham, who, inadventently caused the deaths of 4 of his 7 children.
