A Poem For My 69th Birthday

              Happiness

She has her room, and I have mine.
She has her computer, and I have mine.
She has friends, and I have none.
She has a way with numbers.
She has the gift of tongues.
She has a love of colour and flowers,
and is expert at food and wine, and believes
                                            in consensus,
and minds the dishwasher.
I mind the dog,
the wheelie-bin
and garbage,
the hedge,
the hanging baskets
and fish.
And the teapot.
And thanks to her,
I am greatly improved.
